When Marc Vogler was asked for his wife’s PPS number at the birth of his son in Ireland, neither parent had their number yet. “Then we’ll just take yours,” said the midwife. Marc tells what happened next in his story.
In your first weeks in Ireland you write down one number more often than your name: the PPS number, seven digits and one or two letters. It is Ireland’s tax number and social insurance number in one, and almost every registration asks for it. For €550 we take on the whole process, for you and for every member of your family. A family with three children needs five numbers, and this price covers them all.
What the price includes
Included in the fee of €550
- Your documents checked before you leave: gone through one by one for every member of the family
- The complete application pack: put together, put in order and explained in English
- The online applications: prepared and checked, for you, your partner and every child. You submit them from your own account.
- The in-person appointment: prepared so that everything is there at the first visit.
- Support until the letter arrives: we stay on it until every number is confirmed in writing
- One fixed contact, in English: from the first question to the last number
What you need it for

The PPS number opens the doors of Irish daily life: registration with Revenue and with it your tax registration, public healthcare with its cards and caps on charges, school enrolment, the driving test and the exchange of your driving licence, the registration of your car.
In short: almost every official step of your first months asks for this number, separately for every member of the family, children included.
How the application works

| In-person appointment | an in-person appointment at a PPS Number Allocation Centre is part of the application |

And now the sentence that upsets most moving plans: in practice you apply for the PPS number only after you arrive in Ireland. For the usual reasons, meaning work, social welfare and school, you need an Irish address; from abroad the application works only if you need the number for something like Revenue. So it belongs firmly in your first weeks on the ground, and your timetable should allow for it: first arrival and address, then the PPS number, then everything that depends on it. Our work still starts earlier, with the documents you need to bring.
Where families get stuck

The application itself is manageable. What costs families weeks are three recurring stumbling blocks, and these are exactly what we take off your hands. First, proof of address: if you have just arrived and are living somewhere temporary, it often takes a long time to find the document the authorities accept as proof of your Irish address. We tell you beforehand which one works.
Second, completeness across the whole family: five applications with five sets of documents, and a single missing paper moves the appointment. We put the sets together before you travel. Third, the order: if you tackle the bank account, school and Revenue first and the PPS number afterwards, you go round in circles. We set the order with you, so that the numbers are there before you need them.
If you want the whole arrival from one source, this service is also part of the relocation package, together with the non-dom planning and Marc as your Ireland guide.
Support on the ground
For everything that happens on the ground in Ireland, you have Marc as your fixed contact on the ground in Ireland, who leads your project; behind him are Irish solicitors, tax advisers and accountants whom he coordinates for your case. How this support works is explained under Your contact in Ireland.
